It’ll be a slight disappointment if Fantastic Four enthusiasts don’t get to hear The Thing say his iconic battle cry in the new Fantastic Four movie, but there’s hope that he will.
IGN reported that Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays as The Thing, recited the hero’s famous catchphrase during the filming of Fantastic Four: First Steps when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Thing actor was asked if he said “it’s clobberin’ time!” at all in the film. He revealed that he did say it a couple of times. Moss-Bachrach then stated, “We’ll see what happens! I don’t have the final cut on this one. So we’ll see.”
Viewers can watch the interview on the show’s YouTube channel.
After thanking the actor, Kimmel joked that maybe Moss-Bachrach gave up some information he should’ve never shared. The Fantastic Four actor sighed, “Yeah, and now it’s going to be a long ride home.”
Earlier on, the late night show host asked about Robert Downey Jr., the Iron Man actor who will now be portraying Dr. Doom, if he will be appearing in the movie or if he was in the tag at the end of the film. Kimmel also asked if Moss-Bachrach spent time with him. The Andor actor evaded the questions, claiming he was media trained and refuses to leak any information regarding the upcoming MCU film.
The 47-year-old actor then spoke about the process of doing motion capture work for Ben Grimm’s alter-ego. The late night show host then questioned Moss-Bachrach if he smoked a cigar during filming. The actor responded in a confused manner, “Er, no.” In the comic books, Ben is notorious for smoking cigars.
Fans can catch Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing) in the upcoming Fantastic Four feature directed by Matt Shakman alongside Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ralph Ineson as Galactus.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes out in theaters on July 25, 2025.
