It’s been a running joke that it doesn’t matter how long Pokemon has been going on, the main protagonist remained a certain age. Pokemon Horizons, though, appears to be bucking that trend with a time skip of about three years.
A recent CoroCoro reveal (via IGN) shared that a three-year time skip is on the horizon. While it may sound silly, this does have tie back to the original anime, which kept wannabe Pokemon master, Ash Ketchum, perpetually stuck at 10-years-old.
After over two decades, Ash hung up his wanderlust to hunker down in Alola. This set in motion a duo taking Ash’s place; Liko and Roy. With this time skip, this means somewhere out in the world, the OG Pokemon anime protagonist is now three years older.
The next arc, dubbed Mega Voltage, will also bring back Mega Evolution, which will also be a feature in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Airing in Japan starts April 11 with no indication of when it will hit North America.
