The new critically acclaimed Nosferatu film starring Bill Skarsgård is proven to be a financial success. Meanwhile, the sequel to Moana has reached another box office milestone.
Variety has reported that the recently released Nosferatu film achieved $100 million globally, hitting the worldwide box office milestone. It’s safe to say that the remake to the 1922 beloved vampire classic and now a current staple of the horror genre is off to a bloody impressive run.
Nosferatu tallied $26.8 million over the weekend coming from 6317 screens across 61 markets internationally. The remake directed by Robert Eggers has accumulated an extra $69.4 million at the domestic box office since its release. Currently, the film has a total of $100.3 million worldwide. That’s already double the film’s budget which cost $50 million and has surpassed the milestone just ten days after its release.
According to Screen Rant, Nosferatu also surpassed Smile 2 as the highest-grossing horror film of 2024 domestically. Glad to say that this film salvaged itself from the list of unnecessary and schlocky horror remakes.
Setting Eggers’ remake aside, Variety also mentioned Moana 2 reaching $960.5 million at the worldwide box office and will sail its way to the $1 billion mark. On the sixth weekend of the film’s release, the Disney animated sequel garnered $26 million from 52 territories.
Internationally, Moana 2 reached $535 million and will soon share the success of other Disney films, trailing behind Inside Out 2 and Deadpool and Wolverine, in amassing a billion dollars at the box office. Moana’s sequel was initially meant to be watched on streaming services as well. Although, considering it is a Disney feature, nothing sounds surprising nor impressive about this at all.
