Dandadan’s final episode is already streaming, and it will be dearly missed as there’s no new content to look forward to each week. But don’t be sad just yet! Because just like every other popular shounen anime, there’s still more to come.
To no one’s surprise, Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan will be receiving a second season, according to Anime News Network. The sequel to arguably one of the most watched and universally praised anime of 2024 will also be released next year in July 2025. It’s also confirmed that Crunchyroll will be streaming the supernatural action comedy sequel.
The official X account of Dandadan’s anime uploaded a tweet announcing the second season alongside a visual showing Jiji, Momo, and the demonic-looking Okarun.

The production of the Dandadan’s anime adaptation was produced by Science Saru with Fūga Yamashiro (Ride Your Wave assistant unit director) in charge of directing and Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan) serving as supervisor and scriptwriter of the series. The music was composed by kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man) with Naoyuki Onda as character designer alongside Yoshimichi Kameda, who was responsible for the alien and yōkai designs.
With how well the anime was adapted with such care, as well as the sequel already coming out in July 2025, the staff will likely remain the same.

This is a story about Momo, a high school girl who comes from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult fanatic. After Momo rescues Okarun from being bullied, they begin talking. However, an argument ensues between them since Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens exist, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts exist. To prove to each other what they believe in is real, Momo goes to an abandoned hospital where a UFO has been spotted and Okarun goes to a tunnel rumored to be haunted. To their surprise, they each encounter overwhelming paranormal activities that transcend comprehension. Amid these predicaments, Momo awakens her hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse to overcome these new dangers! Their fateful love begins as well!?

The manga of Dandadan was serialized by Tatsu through Shueisha’s Shonen Jump Plus service with Shueisha publishing the 18th compiled volume in Japan on January 4, 2025. The English version was handled by Viz Media and recently released the 10th volume on December 19. Digitally, the manga is published in English by Viz Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus service.
Dandadan has proven to be one of the most beloved and awe-inspiring anime of 2024. With stunning-looking visuals and animation combined with interesting usage of sci-fi and supernatural elements revolving around real-life urban legends alongside some heartfelt moments, it’s already a contender for best anime of the year.
It’s worth mentioning that the anime will have a stage event at Jump Festa 2025, taking place on December 21, so fingers crossed that more information for the upcoming second season will be unveiled.
