CD Projekt Red is pretty clearly heavily invested in the Cyberpunk IP, with several projects in the pipeline beyond Project Orion, also known as Cyberpunk 2. Among its in-the-work content include a live action Cyberpunk project.
Speaking during its recent quarterly earnings Q&A (via VGC), co-CEO Michał Nowakowski addressed the project, noting that it’s moving forward and making good progress, though, also tapering expectations by noting that it’s still in the conceptual phase.
“I mean, the conceptual stage has various stages of advancement, so we’re for sure further in than we were a year ago, but we’re also not yet at the stage where we would be shopping around the concept to potential streamers or studios. I’d say it’s probably a similar window between here and now as was between when we announced it about a year ago and today, so within that window I would expect we’re going to get to shopping [it] around.”
The project, which is in collaboration with Anonymous Content, is poised to be some sort of live action content, be it a TV show, movie, or something of that nature.
Beyond the project in the conceptual phase, though, we can also expect another animated Cyberpunk show on Netflix. It isn’t clear if this is going to be handled by Edgerunners’ studio, Studio Trigger, but there are hints from last year that the anime maker had other projects with CDPR in the pipeline.
