Kingdom Hearts actor Haley Joel Osment, best known for his role as Sora, wants to be in the live action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. He noted the IP as his “Star Wars.”
During an episode of IGN Arcade, Osment was informed of the live action adaptation, which he somehow missed during its initial run through the press, and when asked if he would throw his hat into the ring if given the chance, he quickly said he would.
“Oh, my hat’s in the ring, they know my hat’s been in the ring. Link was like 37 when he did all this, right!? Seventeen, 37? As a kid, I was like, ‘obviously they’re gonna make [Ocarina of Time] a movie soon, the story’s all written out for you!’ And you’re like, ‘that’d be very challenging to make into a compelling two-hour movie.’ “
When asked what lore he’d like to see, he pointed to Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.
Back in November, Nintendo announced it joined forces with Sony of all companies to bring this film to life, pegging Wes Ball as its director and Venom alum Avi Arad alongside Shigeru Miyamoto as its producers. The film is said to be taking a “grounded” approach, but beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess.
