HBO’s Harry Potter TV series is poised to start filming next summer. Mark Mylod also gave us a light look at just how many people want to be part of the main trio.
As reported by THR, during a Max slate presentation, Mylod, who holds the director and executive producer role, revealed while the next Potter and co haven’t been decided, as the team had a whopping 36,000 kids auditioning for the role, a shortlist is being chiseled out for January with the team listening to 500 to 1,000 auditions a day. The show is also keeping true to ages, as well.
Beyond the main trio, other roles have been supposedly figured out, just not public. The role of Severus Snape, for example, is rumored to be earmarked for I May Destroy You’s Paapa Essiedu. There’s also a Variety report alleging The Outfit’s Mark Rylance is among the top picks for Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore.
HBO’s Harry Potter series is poised to release in 2026 or 2027.
