A sequel to Pixar’s 2017 Day of the Dead-inspired flick, Coco, is receiving a sequel. As one might imagine, it’s dubbed Coco 2.
During a recent The Walt Disney Company’s annual meeting with shareholders (via IGN), Bob Iger spilled the beans.
“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure. And we can’t wait to share more soon.”
The flick will see the return of director Lee Unkrich, who previously directed Toy Story 3 before Coco. Adrian Molina also returns as co-director. Meanwhile, Mark Nielsen, who has made a name for himself with Toy Story 4 and most recently Inside Out 2, is set to produce.
Coco was a big deal back in 2017, nabbing a handful of awards, including a BAFTA for best animated film and a Golden Globe for best animated feature.
No solid release date was shared, but Coco 2 is supposedly coming out sometime in 2026.
