We’re only days away from The Game Awards, and while The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has proven itself to be a force to reckon with, being among the Game of the Year contenders, it still has quite an uphill battle with Players’ Voice award.
Ahead of The Game Awards 2023, the final five nominees of the fan-focused Players’ Voice award were shown off on Twitter with Tears of the Kingdom standing alongside Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Baldur’s Gate 3, Genshin Impact, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as its competition. Needless to say, these entries are some pretty stiff competition, especially Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3, as these are also finalists in the Game of the Year category, which many are waiting in bated to breath to see who wins.
It’s unlikely that Tears of the Kingdom would win the main event, but we could totally see it winning a player vote, though we also anticipate Baldur’s Gate 3 will take home that award alongside many others during the event. It’s also possible that Genshin Impact might come out on top, as it did controversially last year.
Nintendo’s sole — so far — $70 game does have other opps to snag some awards, as it’s also a contender for Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Game Direction, Best Score, and Best Art Direction.
