In a surprising turn of events, Fntastic seems to be trying to make things right after pulling the rug from under its community and shutting down. The studio shut down days after the botched launch of the highly anticipated The Day Before.
With its player base dwindling immediately and much of the studio’s online presence scrubbed, it’s somewhat of a breath of fresh air that on Twitter, the only platform that remains intact right now, sees the dev reveal it’s working with publisher Mytona and Steam to offer dissatisfied customers, within the platform’s 14-day sub-two-hour return policy, refunds.
While it’s all well-and-good that it’s trying, it has also not really read the room, with people angry about how hyped it was, eliciting a response from the dev decrying this was its first “big experience” and that “shit happens.” Naturally, fans weren’t pleased with such a response.
Mytona now retains ownership of The Day Before IP, though, we have equal skepticism that the publisher is anywhere near innocent, as it seems to follow a similar web design, structure, and copyright attorney with Fntastic. It could be a coincidence or these two companies are more related than it’s letting on, but it’s something to keep in mind.

Answer to those who ask for a refund. Mytona and we're currently working with Steam to allow refunds for any player who chooses to request one, regardless of game time. Fntastic received $0 and will receive nothing from The Day Before sales.— Fntastic (@FntasticHQ) December 12, 2023
