Across all platforms, beloved cozy farming simulator Stardew Valley has surpassed 41 million copies sold. The game has been consistently growing and adding new content — and thus players — since 2016.
According to developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone on Stardew’s website, the passes that milestone, with the obvious platform with all the sales being the PC, with over 26 million, meanwhile the Switch is also named, with 7.9 million copies attached.
This sales milestone update comes following the awaited 1.6 update dropping, which saw a ton of new additions and changes to dialog. It also gave Barone some breathing room to “dust off” his side project, Haunted Chocolatier. While we can’t say why Stardew Valley has become a gaming sensation almost at the get-go, we can certainly chalk it up to passion from its sole developer and creator, which has no plans on stopping any time soon.
This is all to say while it’s standing at 41 million copies sold now, it could easily go beyond 50 million by the end of the year.
