Star Wars Outlaws is gonna be a fairly middle of the road sized game, clocking in at around 30 hours for a standard playthrough. More in-depth, completionist playthroughs may take 50-60 hours.
In an interview with VGC after the Ubisoft Forward, creative director Julian Gerighty said that “very, very early on” the team decided it wasn’t going to be this massive game that will take hundreds of hours to complete. This means the smaller team can focus on the details rather than the scope and length of the game and executing something that’s “manageable.”
“Very, very early on, we decided this is going to be a 25, 30 hours golden path adventure, 50 hours, 60 hours for completionists, and that is, for a guy with a family and a job, it’s still a fair amount of time.
But it’s not Assassin’s Creed epic, 200 hours’ worth of gameplay, so that allows us to really focus on the detail, it allows us to focus, maybe with a smaller team, on executing something that is manageable.”
Ubisoft has become known for its lengthy, almost empty games with tons to do but not a lot of detail to keep players invested. Modern Assassin’s Creed games can take over 100 hours to get through a completionist run, with entries like Valhalla taking over 60 just to get through the main story.
