Lately, the Force has proven to be not so strong with Ubisoft and their recent 2024 Star Wars title, at least in terms of sales. In this particular case, the French video game publisher now has another blow added to their list of woes… and this one comes from a fellow Star Wars title.
Though exact sales figures have not been disclosed, VGC reported (according to Push Square) that despite being a newer Star Wars video game, Outlaws has been surpassed sales wise in Europe by EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The latter was released in April 2023 while Star Wars Outlaws released mere months ago in August 2024, becoming only the 47th best-selling game across Europe. It is also noteworthy that unlike Outlaws, EA also released Jedi Survivor with late last-gen ports on PS4 and Xbox One on September 17, not too long after Outlaw’s launch (credit to Star Wars News Net),
This report only makes things worse for Ubisoft, following woes including abysmal reviews for “AAAA” title Skull and Bones and XDefiant’s immanent shutdown after initial promising success. More salt has been rubbed into the wounds with the long anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows getting delayed once more. At the moment, Ubisoft just can’t seem to catch a break.
