The free-to-play game, Star Wars: Hunters, apparently has its days numbered, as fans have been hit with disappointing news from the mobile game developer Zynga. Star Wars: Hunters will continue to be around until Fall 2025, before the game becomes one with the Force following the eventual server shutdown.
Zynga made the unexpected announcement regarding their Star Wars online arena game earlier this week, stating the game will shut down for good this October. This announcement comes less than a year after the game finally made its global launch.
“After careful consideration, we want to let you know that the final content update for Star Wars: Hunters on all platforms will be on April 15th. The game will remain playable until October 1st, 2025, when the game’s online servers will be shut down.”
Zynga also had a few extra details surrounding the future of the game in the coming months. Namely, the current season will be extended for 3 weeks and April 15 will see the final content update get dropped. At this time, Zynga did not officially specify why Star Wars: Hunters is getting shut down.
Star Wars: Hunters has had a long and rocky development during the early times of the Covid-19 Pandemic. PocketGamer recounts that the Free-to-play title was intended to make the original 2021 launch before getting hit with a three-year delay. June 4, 2024 finally saw the greatly awaited launch of Star Wars: Hunters on mobile devices and Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, popular demand resulted in a PC port via Steam get announced back in November, as reported by StarWars.com, with the Steam Early Access held late last January. Needless to say, the impending cancellation means the anticipated PC port will never get completed and released.
Go download and play Star Wars: Hunters on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch within the next six or so months while you still can!
