Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai touched on his future in the gaming sphere as some high-profile devs have been shying away from the spotlight or looking for a change of pace. He doesn’t refute that he might be looking for a change of pace, but that’s largely what his YouTube channel seems to be.
On said YouTube channel (via Nintendo Life), he dropped that quick line after discussing some high-profile game devs stepping back from the spotlight. This doesn’t guarantee any future projects, but despite allegedly “semi-retiring,” he still seems to want involvement in the future of the Smash Bros. series.
This doesn’t mean he is working on anything new, though, this just means he isn’t retiring from game development as a whole but rather is looking for a creative outlet that isn’t his “job,” at least from our perspective. Hence, the YouTube channel.
“As for me, I’m still creating games for the time being, but I’m also making this YouTube channel.”
