Rockstar Games planned on releasing the first trailer of Grand Theft Auto 6 tomorrow, but as it turns out, in a stroke of “of course, this happened,” it leaked, and rather than ignore it, the New York-based dev dropped it early.
While those waiting patiently for the official version scrolled through social media, Rockstar revealed that the trailer was, in fact, leaked, and it would appreciate it if people went to watch it on the official YouTube. As expected, the trailer is nothing more a set up of where the game will take place. It looks like we’re heading back to Vice City, stepping in the shoes of Lucia, a woman who appears to be a career criminal alongside her partner-in-crime Jason. As it stands, we aren’t sure if this will exclusively focus on the new protagonist or if it will continue the trend of multiple heroines, allowing us to swap between the two.
No real footage was shared here, but what we do see is a solid concept, a little nugget of a story, and a whole lot of Florida people jokes. Something that makes it all the more understandable as GTA 6’s locale, Vice City, is based on Miami, Florida. It’s gonna take some time before we know much more about this game, we’re sure. Considering it’s launching in 2025, though, we can’t imagine Rockstar is gonna keep quiet for too long.
