Over two years since the release of a Playtonic Games and Megawobble indie title, playtime calls players for an expanded adventure.
Playtonic Games, known for titles including 2017’s Yooka-Laylee (and its upcoming remaster), has surprised fans with an announcement trailer for DLC of its 2022 indie title Lil Gator Game. Taking place in a previously blocked-off cave, the In The Dark DLC invites players to return to playtime with Lil Gator and company and exploring new underground cave(s) beneath their island-wide park.
Playtonic has the following for Lil Gator Game: In the Dark:
Lil Gator (and friends!) is back with a whole new world to explore, In The Dark! Join Lil Gator as they go underground to explore the mysterious caverns underneath the island, find new toys and characters to interact with, and new stories to be made in this game-sized DLC for Lil Gator Game!
The upcoming game expansion sounds to be somewhere early in development, as no release date nor release window was mentioned in the announcement. On the contrary, Playtonic already teased fans on Twitter last month with a short clip of the aforementioned blocked-off cave entrance being blown wide open.
In terms of base content, Lil Gator Game is an adorable, kid-friendly game about a young gator who sets of on a grand adventure in an island-wide park, building an expansive community of friends through various activities. All this, for his attempts to get his big gator sister to join in on the fun. The new DLC will provide both an opportunity to revisit Lil Gator’s adventure, and the chance to get into the adventures in full. Gematsu mentions the upcoming DLC will release alongside a “complete edition” of the game known as the Gator of the Year Edition.
Lil Gator Game originally released for PC and Nintendo Switch before getting ported to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One last October.
