Foamstars is launching on February 6, and as a bonus, it will be available on day one for PlayStation Plus members. This shooter is what you get when you mix a party with a third-person shooter.
Foamstars will be launching with three PvP game modes, including Smash the Star, Happy Bath Survival, and, as revealed today, Rubber Duck Party. Smash the Star is a team deathmatch, but after a certain number of eliminations, it turns into a protect the leader style gameplay. Happy Bath Survival is a new, unique take on arena-based knockout gameplay. Included in a press release from publisher Square Enix is the newly announced Rubber Duck Party, which looks to be a hilariously enjoyable payload game mode.
Another addition announced today is a pairing of PvE content, a single-player mode, and also a team-based mode. This mode is made up of randomized encounters and is set to introduce players to the Foamstars athletes. The other intention of this mode is to help you hone your skills and be able to make the transition to PvP.
Another new announcement is that the game will be supported with seasonal-themed content for free and a season pass while offering a paid premium tier, allowing players to unlock all of the season’s content without the grind. Seasonal content can include new characters, cosmetics, maps, and game modes. The plan is to currently provide content for a year from launch.
To help free players work through the season’s content challenges, they will also be introduced to Foamstars. Challenges will yield their own rewards, while also giving you progression through the seasonal content pass.
Foamstars was originally announced during the PlayStation Showcase in 2023 when other games seemed to overshadow it. Luckily, it has continued development and seems to be a unique addition to the gaming space. So, get ready to join the party, play in the foam, and become a star when Foamstars launches on February 6.
