After a brief delay, Palworld has arrived on PlayStation over in Japan. This release is amid the lawsuit it’s fighting against Pokemon publisher Nintendo.
Last month, the hit creature capture survival game hit the PS5 after a stint relegated to Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview. The game, which borrows a fair bit of concepts from Nintendo’s Pokemon, while also giving players a fresh take with base building mechanics and general survival elements, never hit the home console in Japan.
Developer Pocketpair revealed the release to Japanese audience, per PRTimes, and didn’t really explain what happened. Additionally, while the game is now on PS5 that’s not all as PUBG owner Krafton stepped in to bring the game to mobile devices.
Smash Jump’s Julian Barber said even in its Early Access state, it “far exceeded the expectations” he had. He also said: “The exploration can feel challenging but fair, and the rewarding feeling you get from leveling up your base or catching a Pal with an extremely low catch rate is amazing.”
