Before Palworld developer Pocketpair even had a publishing division, it sounds like the dev was getting game pitches following the success of Palworld.
Speaking to GamesRadar at GDC 2025, communications director and publishing manager John Buckley spilled the beans that the studio got tons of pitches, even from big name studios in the AAA space.
“No one has money at the moment. Minutes, that’s not even a joke; minutes after Palworld released and that started to happen, people were sending us pitches even though we weren’t a publisher. I think there was just this desperate, you know, ‘we need money’ that’s going on right now, and a lot of people contacted us.
To our surprise, it wasn’t just little two-man teams or something. Some really big names contacted us, you know, AAA, AA, premium indies, all these contacts.”
Of course, now the studio has a publishing division, with its first known project being Surgent Studios’ unannounced horror title. Meanwhile, it’s known that it wants to aid in smaller studios getting its products out there for the world to see, with previous statements from Buckley noting it just wants to provide money for people to make games and that small studios don’t “have to get wrapped up in stinky rule makers and bullies.”
“We give you money. You make the game. If you want help with marketing or something we’ll help out, but otherwise do whatever you want. “We’re giving devs the financial freedom to make games they want so they DON’T have to get wrapped up in stinky rule makers and bullies.”
