After a brief bout of rumor spreading, it appears that Square Enix is, indeed, releasing Octopath Traveler to PlayStation consoles. The original game is currently available on Xbox, PC, and its home console of the Nintendo Switch.
In a press release Wednesday, it was revealed that the original game is available on PlayStation platforms while its sequel is heading to Xbox after avoiding the American console for Octopath Traveler 2. Admittedly, it was kind of weird how things played out — the original game skipped PlayStation while its sequel side-stepped Xbox.
Featuring a memorable HD-2D art style, the game has grown since its 2018 debut with four million copies sold worldwide. As an added bonus, more content has been added to Octopath Traveler 2 in the form of “Extra Battle” mode, which tests your skills against brand-new tough enemies and duking it out with the main characters of the original.
Early buyers of the PlayStation version of the game will also get a 34% early purchaser discount.
