Sorry PlayStation fans, it looks like the developers behind STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl don’t have any plans to bring their smash hit to PS5 any time soon.
In an interview with Tech4Gamers, game director Ievgen Grygorovych said that the team at GSC Game World are “fully focused on developing (and now supporting) the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions.” When asked about a potential future PS5 Pro port, Grygorovych refused to elaborate and reiterated his previous comments by stating:
“Again, the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 are the only ones we have developed and are supporting.”
Now whilst this may sound disheartening to those hoping that a PS5 port would be available soon, there could still be hope on the horizon. As it stands, the game is currently on a three-month timed exclusivity deal on the Xbox platform which could mean ports to other consoles could come soon after the deal has expired.
In addition to that, GSC Game World owner, Maksym Krippa, has stated that the game could exceed $1 billion dollars in revenue. Considering that there is a lot of fan demand for a PS5 port, and the potential of making a lot of money from the game, it would make sense for GSC to produce a port to boost sales. However, only time will tell, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed.
In our review, we call the game: “While some parts of the game still need a bit of time in the oven, I can see myself coming back to the Zone.”
