Details about the Nintendo Switch successor are currently hotly debated everywhere. Recent supposed leaks have emerged about the much anticipated console to add even more fuel to the fire.
According to the Spanish news site Vandal, which claims to have received information from console and accessories manufacturers, the Nintendo Switch 2 may be releasing in Spring 2025, loosely falling in line with previous reports. Vandal reports that the official reveal of the Switch 2 is scheduled for this June, in time for the Summer game events season.
Other details have emerged from the reported leak. The Switch 2 may be larger in size compared to the original Switch, although “without reaching the size of the Steam Deck.” The Nintendo Switch 2 may also feature new Joy-Cons which connect to the screen via magnetic strips. Vandal claims the current Joy-Cons may be incompatible with the new Switch as a result. Nonetheless, it is stated that the current Nintendo Pro Controller may remain compatible with the Switch 2.
Other Nintendo Switch 2 rumors have also mentioned that the new console may use an Nvidia chip similar to the architecture of the RTX 30 Series graphics cards, feature Ray-Tracing, and employ Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) upscaling technology, which boosts the framerate by rendering frames at a lower resolution than displayed and using deep learning AI to upscale the frames to look as high-fidelity as expected at the native resolution.
Reported leaks from the South Korean publication MK also claim that the Switch 2 may feature Samsung technology, including a new display screen, the manufacturing of the Nvidia graphics chip, and the development of the Samsung V-NAND memory chips.
It is easy to understand how these leaks may often be overwhelming to digest. Nonetheless, a new Nintendo console is imminent and we are all here for it!
