The name of the next DLC for Bethesda’s open-universe space RPG, Starfield, may have just been revealed by a new trademark.
According to insider Timur222, a trademark was filed by Zenimax Media Inc., the parent company of Bethesda Game Studios, which may reveal the name of a new Starfield DLC. The trademark, filed on July 12, 2024, was for the name “Starborn” which has a connection to the story of the space-faring RPG.
Starfield already has one planned DLC set to release soon, Shattered Space, which is set up to potentially revitalize the game after a mixed start with critical reviews. On the sales front, Starfield has been a definite success as it sold $657 million by the end of 2023, just barely keeping it out of the top 10 best-selling games of that year behind EA Sports FC 24, Star Wars Jedi, Survivor, and Mortal Kombat 1. It stands to reason, then, that Bethesda may be looking to capitalize on this success with an additional DLC release after Shattered Space.
Fans of the game will recognize the term “Starborn” from the game and its crucial role in the narrative and world. If a new DLC is announced under the same name, it could hint at possible connections or continuation of the main narrative.
Todd Howard, famed studio head at Bethesda, has stated in previous interviews (like the one with MrMattyPlays) that more expansions were being planned for Starfield as they commit to supporting the game long-term. Currently, the only official DLC announced remains Shattered Space with a release window sometime in Fall 2024.
