A new limited edition Dualsense controller has been announced based on the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive 3D platformer, Astro Bot.
Team Asobi studio head, Nicolas Doucet, announced the new controller on the PlayStation Blog. The new controller features blue accents inspired by the titular character, sci-fi decorative lines, and large round eyes on the TouchPad.
Interested buyers can pre-order the limited edition controller on August 9 at 7 AM PST in the US and also available worldwide. Pre-orders can be made via the PlayStation Direct website and costs $79.99. The controller was said to launch day-and-date with the full game release on September 6.
The DualSense controller features haptic feedback, various vibrations meant to simulate the feel of various elements in games to increase immersion. Astro’s Playroom, Team Asobi’s previous title that served as a packed-in tech demo for the PlayStation 5, made effective use of haptic feedback simulating everything from rain drops, sand, gusts of wind, and Astro’s metal feet taps. In the post, Doucet explains that the team is expanding and improving upon the use of haptic feedback with more textures.
Astro Bot will release on September 6, 2024 for $59.99, and the Limited Edition Astro Bot Dualsense will launch the same day for $79.99.
