Much like Beyond Good and Evil 2 and GTA 6, Half-Life 3 is a game that has been anticipated by many for decades. The last console instalment in the series, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, was released all the way back in 2007, with PC VR prequel Half-Life: Alyx launching in 2020. Since then, fans of the series have been craving for a brand new entry to continue the story. There have been a plethora of rumors and potential leaks, but these have never been corroborated.
However, a new video by G-Man actor Mike Shapiro could finally give fans their long awaited answer. Shapiro posted a video on his Twitter account wishing his followers a happy new year. The video also features Shapiro flawlessly slipping into his iconic G-Man voice halfway through the video.
This video has many people convinced that an announcement for the long awaited third entry will be coming this year. Fans have been commenting on the post to show their excitement for what the cryptic video could mean, but there are also a few that are keeping their expectations low following the previous strings of disappointment. Recently, however, there have been holiday rumors from Valve insider Gabe Follower about a Half-Life 3 build being playtested internally at Valve along with the friends and family of the developers.
Whatever Shapiro’s mysterious video is teasing and in light of alleged playtesting rumors, Half-Life fans have a reason to be excited again for what the future holds for the series. Let’s just hope that whatever it may be it finally scratches that long painful itch they’ve been feeling since 2007 and 2020.
