Skepticism rose when Rockstar Games slapped a 2025 release window on Grand Theft Auto 6 during its reveal, while not impossible, a new report says otherwise.
A Kotaku report alleges that Rockstar’s recent return-to-office mandate was — at least partially — fueled by the game’s development running behind and demanding people come back to the office was its solution to avoid missing the deadline. Officially, though, it was all for security reasons.
While the early — April, at the earliest — 2025 release window sounds reasonable, with the game’s development “falling behind” as much as it is, the game could be delayed to late 2025 to even sometime in 2026, which while not the end of the GTA hype train, it may derail some who have been excited for some time. We simply haven’t seen enough of the game, though, to know how far ahead it is to know exactly how realistic a year’s time is in terms of launching… hopefully without any major bugs.
To be frank, Grand Theft 6 is way to big to mess up, so hopefully if a delay is required, Rockstar won’t be shy about it and won’t feel the need to release the game after the intiail delay, even if it needs more polish.
