Capcom is sending out a survey asking fans what games they want to see rebooted or revived with the “latest technology.” It might have a lot of still-kicking IPs like Resident Evil and Street Fighter, but it might be looking at its more legacy, abandoned library.
The Japanese developer sent a survey (thanks, GamingBolt) to fans, asking 10 questions with some inquiring about new entries or spin-offs to older IPs. IPs like Dead Rising, Okami, Lost Planet, and the ever-forgotten Dino Crisis are among the most notable. Other questions include asking what games fans want to see entirely remade with the latest tech available, IPs like the Mega Man trilogy, Final Fight, and the Ace Attorney trilogy are among the options.
While Dead Rising didn’t go over well with fans later down the franchise’s lifespan, it’s still a game franchise that hasn’t had a run since we returned to the role of Frank West in Dead Rising 4 back in 2016. Okami, on the other hand, hasn’t seen a new game since 2006, with only the occasional port keeping it alive. While Dino Crisis… well, it’s been dead since the early 2000s.
Capcom often sends out surveys, but it’s not every survey that you can really declare “reboot old IPs already!” as a valid option for a survey. This leads us to believe it really is looking at rebooting and adding entries to forgotten IPs and is using this survey to test the waters of interest.
