Game Science is hard at work on the first DLC to its runaway success, Black Myth: Wukong. It sounds like it’s trying to replicate the same strong nature of the game within the DLC.
Hero Games and Game Science investor, Daniel Wu, spoke to Bloomberg (via GamingBolt), discussing the game and revealed the matter. Not much is known on the potential path the DLC will take, but we suspect it’ll take a while before we hear anything official from the studio.
It’s also all but confirmed that Wukong is only one of the many stories the studio may take out of Chinese folklore. An old report from IGN from back in 2020 notes at a wider Black Myth universe. While nothing could be said in the report about specifics, it’s noted as a “really ambitious plan” with two stories discussed by the studio.
Considering the immense success of Black Myth: Wukong — selling 10 million copies in three days and 18 million in two weeks — it would a surprise if Game Science stops there. That said, it’s likely that the studio may produce one or two DLCs before moving onto another entry in the Black Myth series.
Smash Jump’s Matt Marston enjoyed his time playing Black Myth: Wukong, praising its graphical fidelity, combat, and wider gameplay, which he says “carries the experience.”
