Xbox didn’t have an easy year given its series of controversies, including studio closures, less than stellar releases, an identity crisis, and the Activision Blizzard acquisition. The gaming world is now looking forward to some much needed good news coming from Team Green. Without further ado, here are all the announcements from this June’s Xbox Games Showcase.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 gets a gameplay reveal, releasing October 25
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 was revealed with a gameplay trailer featuring new mechanics to the franchise like dialogue trees, companions, and more freedom in approaching missions. Black Ops 6 brings back the much loved zombies mode and the classic grind of the Prestige system. Other gameplay improvements also include the much more dynamic omnidirectional movement.
The story is set during the Cold War and continues after the events of Cold War and Black Ops 2, with the timeline set sometime between 1989 and 1991. Black Ops 6 also received a special Direct after the Xbox Showcase detailing more multiplayer gameplay features and the Prestige system.

Doom: The Dark Ages debuts gory action, coming 2025
Doom is back with a vengeance! Doom: The Dark Ages has been announced via an electrifying gameplay reveal trailer, highlighting its non-stop chainsaw-ridden action. New for the series, The Dark Ages takes places in a fantasy medieval setting which may just prove to be a much needed change of scenery for our Doom Guy!

State of Decay 3 gets a surprise cinematic trailer, but still no launch date
After many rumors of troubled development and a four-year break since its debut reveal, State of Decay 3 surprised us with a new cinematic trailer. This features new enemy types and teases a bit of the story. There is no gameplay to speak off or release date at the moment. Nonetheless, this trailer reminds us that State of Decay 3 is alive and should still be on our radar.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard debuts cinematic trailer and a new art style, launches Fall 2024
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a continuation of Dragon Age Inquisition. The Veilguard marks a departure from the dark fantasy art style of previous iterations. It will prove interesting to see how this change of clothes will be met by fans. The new cinematic trailer reveals some of the new companions, including returning fan favorite Varric. A gameplay premiere will grace our screens June 11.

Starfield: Shattered Space expansion debuts story trailer, arriving sometime this year
Starfield receives its first big expansion called Shattered Space. The trailer is light on gameplay, although new locations have been revealed alongside a new storyline. Starfield fans will be treated to more details later tonight in a separate event as Bethesda revealed that Shattered Space will drop sometime this year on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Fallout 76 surprises with the expansion Skyline Valley, arrives early 2025
Fallout 76 Skyline Valley is a surprise expansion that arrives June 12. Skyline Valley will expand Fallout 76’s Appalachia map with new enemy types, weapons, storyline, and you also get to play as a ghoul!
Skyline Valley launches on Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
Action RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 revealed, coming 2025
With the most ambitious title name of the entire event, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an Action RPG developed in the Unreal Engine 5. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes place in a world where the Paintress, who repaints the world, causes beings to disappear. Each year, the number ticks down by one, killing off younger generations each time. The cycle must be stopped. The debut trailer reveals some impressive graphics and actiony goodness.

Action Adventure South of Midnight debuts gameplay trailer, coming 2025
South of Midnight looks like a charming stop-motion action adventure reminiscent of Kena: Bridge of Spirits. South of Midnight’s trailer debuts gameplay mechanics, enemies, and locations. The game is a coming-of-age story where you play as Hazel as she seeks to rescue her mother, set in a fantasy world where folklore becomes reality.

World of Warcraft: The War Within debuts cinematic trailer, launches August 26
World of Warcraft: The War Within expansion comes August 26 for PC (Windows and MacOS). It marks the first part of the Worldsoul Saga trilogy of expansions, led by Warcraft legend Chris Metzen. Naturally expectations are high. The War Within’s cinematic trailer showcased the story and some of the fabled characters we have come to love, including Arthas and Sylvanas. The War Within is set in Khaz Algar, which is divided into four distinct zones: the Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall and Azj-Kahet The level cap has been raised to 80. Starting at level 71, players can unlock a separate third talent tree called Hero Talents for every class and specialization.
Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater receives its first gameplay trailer, but no release date
Much awaited new details have dropped for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. The new gameplay trailer reveals a very faithful recreation of the original, including returning characters such as The Boss, art style, and even Snake’s original voice actor David Hayter returning to the series. The Tactical Espionage Action moniker has been kept judging by the trailer’s mix of stealth and action.
Metal Gear Solid Δ (Delta) is set to release on the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5, although the trailer did not reveal an official release date.
Sea of Thieves gets Season 13 update, coming July 25
Sea of Thieves debuts a Season 13 update trailer. The new season comes July 25 and features a new villain, storyline, locations, and more. The update launches on Game Pass, Steam, and PS5.
Flintlock: Siege of Dawn rogue-lite coming July 18
Flintlock: Siege of Dawn is a souls-lite action adventure coming July 18. The game’s story has been described as:
The Door to the Great Below has been opened unleashing the Gods and their armies of the Dead. The lands of Kian are besieged, the city of Dawn is on the brink of destruction. It’s time for the Coalition army to fight back. Embrace vengeance, gunpowder and magic as you embark on an epic journey to defeat the Gods, close the door and retake the world.
The gameplay trailer reveals some high-octane flintlock action which is bound to please fans of gunpowder fantasy. Flintlock comes out on the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
Age of Mythology Retold brings RTS and gods back, launching September 4
Age of Mythology Retold is a retelling of the beloved RTS classic Age of Mythology. Gods, monsters, and humans collide in this updated RTS title featuring a 50-mission campaign. The gameplay trailer features different civilizations, gods, and powers in what looks to be a faithful adaptation of the source material for current gen platforms.

Perfect Dark reveals gameplay and story, but launch date is still a mystery
After much speculation about its troubled development, the Perfect Dark remake breaks through in spectacular fashion with its debut gameplay reveal trailer. Perfect Dark follows agent Joanna Dark as she untangles a sci-fi world of conspiracy, corporations, and aliens. The gameplay trailer showcases parkour, traversal, shooting, and stealth mechanics in what just may be the best surprise of the whole event.
Perfect Dark still does not feature a release date, but it has been confirmed it will arrive on Game Pass Day One when it finally launches.
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred expansion drops cinematic trailer, releases October 8
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred debuts an impressive cinematic reveal trailer. Vessel of Hatred is set in the jungle of Nahantu, where warriors known as Spiritborn battle demons. The story follows Neyrelle and her fight against Mephisto, Lord of Hatred. The new class for Vessel of Hatred will be the Spiritborn, a class “ranked among the apex predators of the jungle.” Details are sparse, although more will be revealed during a July 18 livestream.
Vessel of Hatred arrives October 8 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, PS5, and PS4.
Fable unveils gameplay, coming 2025
New Fable gameplay has been revealed alongside a good first look at the world of Albion, characters and companions, and a bit of the storyline. The action looks engaging and the world is vibrant.

FragPunk is a frantic, squad-based, 5v5 hero shooter where you activate power-up cards as part of the gameplay mechanic. FragPunk features over 70 shard cards, 10 heroes, 14 weapons and 4 maps.

Mixtape brings back nostalgia, launches 2025
Mixtape is a cell-shaded title that brings back nostalgia through the lense of the teenage years. It is described as:
Immerse yourself in the teenage wasteland, playing through a variety of narrative vignettes exploring the pivotal moments that shaped them. The story is delivered through a mixtape of comedic, joyful gameplay, from skateboarding and flying to taking photos after hours at an abandoned theme park, and much more. It’s the greatest hits of teenage friendship, from the first kiss to the last dance.
Mixtape looks like a great trip through memory lane mixed with a stellar soundtrack.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 arrives November 19
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 features “the largest, most diverse and detailed fleet of aircraft, the most complete representation of airports and air traffic, and the most visually stunning rendition of Earth ever created.” Fans (and pilots everywhere) are in for a treat.
Flight Simulator launches on Game Pass Day One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on November 19.
The Elder Scrolls Online Celebrates its 10 years anniversary
Celebrating a decade of adventures, the Elder Scrolls Online invites players to begin their journey in a new trailer. Whether you are a veteran or a newcomer, Tamriel awaits you. For a limited time, play all DLC for free as you await the release of the latest expansion Gold Road, which comes June 18 on Xbox, PC, Steam, PS5, and PS4.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure releasing October 29
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back the fan favorite Life is Strange and its protagonist Max Caulfield. This time Max returns later in her life, now an artist-in-residence at the prestigious Caledon University. Expect a “full-on murder-mystery with a supernatural twist.”
The title arrives October 29 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle showcases new trailer, launches later this year
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle returns with a new trailer showcasing Indy and his companion Gina in the Himalayas. Details on the gameplay are sparse, but we do know that the game adopts a first person action adventure approach.

Mecha Break revealed, coming 2025
Mecha Break is described as “a multiplayer mech-based shooter that allows players to choose from a variety of mechs, customize their appearances, and battle colossal war machines on treacherous terrain.” It features customizable mechs, player-created mech pilots, a wide array of mech and weapon types, and three distinct game modes: 6v6 Battlefield mode, 3v3 Arena mode, and up to 60-player PvEvP mode. An Xbox Series X Beta playtest starts in August.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers revealed, arrives 2025Â

The Obsidian-developed Avowed debuts a story trailer and a look at a companion and gameplay. Avowed is described as:

Avowed is one of the most anticipated releases of Xbox for this year. Knowing Obsidian, we expect Avowed to be a great RPG experience.

Atomfall channels Fallout in its debut trailer, launching 2025
Atomfall is a new title that channels Fallout. Set in the British countryside, the game follows a fictional storyline where you find yourself in the quarantine zone five years after a nuclear event. Expect horror folklore, mutants, and irradiated tea.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows showcases gameplay, arrives November 15
Assassins Creed Shadows debuted a gameplay trailer. Shadows explore 16th century Japan through the perspectives of its two protagonists: Naoe, an adept shinobi from the province of Iga and Yasuke, a powerful samurai. The gameplay trailers shows the different playstyles, equipment, and world of Shadows.
The title arrives November 15 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl gets new gameplay trailer, releases September 5
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl received a new gameplay trailer. Showcasing the story, characters, and gunplay alongside its Ukrainian voice-overs, STALKER 2 impresses with its representation of the post-nuclear apocalyptic setting. The Unreal Engine 5 graphics also look outstanding. More information will be revealed throughout the summer as Xbox promises more details on STALKER 2.

Three New Xbox Series X|S Consoles revealed, coming this holiday season
Three new Xbox Series X|S console options have been announced. This holiday season, the gaming world will be met with the new 1TB Series S in Robot White, an all-digital Xbox Series X, and a 2TB Xbox Series X Special Edition in Galaxy Black. Prices will be announced at a later date.
Prequel Gears of War: E-Day revealed through in-engine trailer, no release date announced
Fans have been speculating that a Gears of War may soon be upon us… and they were right! Gears of War: E-Day has been revealed, taking the action back to Emergence Day and 14 years before the events of the first Gears of War. The prequel E-Day explores the early relationship between Marcus and Dom as they face the first Locust Horde emergence, all presented in a stunning Unreal Engine 5 trailer.
E-Day has no release date and will likely be making its way only for the Xbox and PC.
