Sometime in June, Nintendo plans on hosting another one of its long-running Nintendo Directs specifically going over the latter part of the Nintendo Switch’s library. This comes coupled with the other big reveal.
Earlier this week, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa revealed on Twitter that it would reveal the Switch successor sometime in this fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2025. Coupled with that reveal, though, you have a new Nintendo Direct on the horizon. While many are hoping for more info on this new, long, long, long-rumored console, we’ll have to wait for later in the year when it no doubts announces the console alongside its hardware. That said, he did specifically note that it would not mention the now-mostly-confirmed Switch successor.
This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct…

We assume we’ll see perhaps a reveal of what the mysterious project codenamed Banquet is and perhaps some more gameplay of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD if the Direct heads out before its release on June 27, which we imagine the Direct would be the middle of the month at the latest. What we can confidently say is it will most likely have new reveals of new games heading out before the Switch becomes old news, though, we highly doubt Nintendo will just drop the console as soon as its shiny big brother hits the scene, which is allegedly next year.
