Arkane Studios’ Redfall had a tremendously bad launch complete with broken AI, an empty world, and a generally middling gameplay experience, and while some of the more controversial things have been addressed, Bite Back Edition owners are still waiting on promised perks of dropping $100 on the game. Fans have been waiting for a year with no note of when these new characters would show up.
Kotaku reports the issue, Discord user and Bite Back Edition owner Obvious spoke out, stating that since Redfall hasn’t addressed the year-long wait for the two new heroes since November and haven’t put out a big update since last year’s Halloween update. The user speculates Arkane’s either “hit issues” or “hadn’t even started” on the DLC. Part of their hope is it’s being worked on behind the scene as part of another big update, but as days go on, hope is fading for fans.
The first-person shooter was Microsoft’s way to enter the $70 market, only for it to release half-baked and lacking promised or implied features, such as 60 FPS on console that was relegated to a later patch long after the game’s audience went the way of the dodo. The game’s own Twitter has since gone dark, with its last post being on April 2.
A separate Redfall enjoyer going by rabbi921 discussed with the outlet how they learned long ago not to pre-order games because of the bad state they release in, noting it’s not just Arkane’s shooter. That said, they played a lot and while they look forward to the DLC regardless, they don’t want to be made fun of and the studio needs to prove there’s “something concrete.”
“I’ve played a lot of Redfall on Game Pass and I can’t wait to buy the dlc but first they have to show me something concrete. I love this game but I don’t want to be made fun of either. I think more or less all the other fans think the same.”
