The hotly anticipated current-gen patch for Bethesda’s Fallout 4 isn’t having a very good launch. With Bethesda at the helm, it isn’t a shock there are bugs, but even stuff that was promised to be fixed are still lingering in the Commonwealth.
While PlayStation players are struggling to get the update, which is meant to be free for existing owners, the platform that’s gotten stiffed the most appears to be Steam as mods created to fix the issues that this update was supposed to fix now don’t work. Xbox isn’t exempt from issues as Quality mode just does not work, meaning the appeal of the update is lost on the platform. Reported by users on Reddit and Steam (curated by IGN), bugs include missing textures on makeshift weapons, the world not loading correctly, and players having to watch idly as their character is locked in place killed by Radroaches.
Hopefully, this update is absolved of these bugs and glitches, but we have a hunch that it’ll be a while before some of the promised fixes are implemented. It’s kind of annoying, especially as you remember that this update has been in the works for some time, and was delayed into 2024. It wasn’t shocking since there was a lack of communication between the community and Bethesda, but it still is frustrating that it didn’t have to release in this state — full of bugs that were promised to be fixed and missing textures.
