The latest addition to the Pokemon Unite roster, Gyarados, has finally arrived.
This brand new Water-Flying type Pokemon takes up the role of an All-Rounder, serving as a mixture of high offense, defense, and endurance that will definitely give foes a run for their money. Like many new releases to the game, its license can currently be purchased individually at the Unite Battle Committee, or as a bundle with its “New Year Style” skin included.
The prices aren’t too bad, either. The former will cost the player 575 gems, with the latter being 1,381 gems (after discount). In about a week’s time, it will lose the status of being “gem-locked,” and the option for players to purchase it with Aeos Coins will additionally open up, which some strongly speculate to be about 13,000 coins in value.
Unfortunately, it seems that there were no new balance patches associated with the addition of Gyarados to the game. Fans might have also been longing for one of the more “character-specific” events that have typically followed with prior recent entries like Meowscarada and Metagross.
As a stark contrast, Gyarados had no events in-game (for the official build) that even told of its existence before the release. Luckily, Pokemon Unite made up for this fact by advertising the Pokemon publicly both before and during the January 25 launch on their various social media platforms.
In place of any event aimed at promoting Gyarados came the “Lunar New Year Log-In Event,” which will last from January 25 all the way through to February 9. Players will simply have to log in sometime after 4 PM PST/7 PM EST in order to claim their daily rewards.
Pokemon Unite socials still provided the usual “Moves Overview” video corresponding with every new character’s release, detailing everything you need to know about the character’s abilities, moveset, and more. Give it a look, and see for yourself just what this serpentine Pokemon has to offer.
