Sonic X Shadow Generations and award-winning Metaphor: ReFantazio is performing better than Sega expected. The two games were among Sega’s final offerings of last year.
During a quarterly Q&A (via GamingBolt), the studio revealed the two games “are performing better than expected.” This kind of softens the blow of the studio previously throwing Football Manager 25 into the bin. Speaking to the performance of ReFantazio, Sega noted it’s on track to exceed its initial forecast.
“The recent number of units sold has been steadily increasing and is on pace to exceed our initial forecast. Those responses support our confidence about the title, and we believe we can expect the further sales by raising awareness of the title in the future. We will continue the effort to increase repeat sales while always closely monitor the appropriate price levels.”
Metaphor saw solid sales early on. Meanwhile, Sonic X Shadow Generations managed to somewhat keep the train going, with equally strong sales. Of note, ReFantazio took home a trio of awards at 2024’s The Smash Jump Awards.
In our Sonic X Shadow Generations review, we said: “Sonic X Shadow Generations is a speedy adventure that fans of the franchise will adore. The games give players plenty of time to spend with the iconic blue hedgehog while also putting a spotlight on his mysterious rival.”
