Atomfall developer Rebellion knew the action survival alt-history title would get compared to Fallout, but is confident people will see it as more after they play. One of the studio founders, Jason Kingsley, is even a fan of the series.
Speaking with IGN, art director Ryan Greene opens up that it knew the game would get compared to the other survival title and was totally fine with it. It’s even flattered due to the Bethesda IP’s long-running history.
“Once you play the game, you realize it’s not Fallout, but yes, we knew. And one of our owners, Jason Kingsley, he’s a big Fallout fan, so inevitably there was going to be some parallels in that any kind of survival in the apocalypse, immediately Fallout‘s going to come up as a thing. And those guys are great at what they do. And that’s cool.”
During the interview, Greene also revealed the game will take about 25 hours to complete, but also seemed to make it clear there’s more to do than just the story and completionists can stretch that “a long way.” Meanwhile, you can kill anyone or everyone if you see fit, with the game featuring multiple endings.
Atomfall releases to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on March 27.
