Developer Fntastic, the one behind the shortly-lived, under-delivered The Day Before, following its closure and subsequent revival, is suing a website for labeling it a scam.
Small Russian news site Yakutia.info (via 80.LV) alleges that it’s being sued for labeling the project as a scam after the studio hyped its game up, released an underbaked product, killed the game, and closed the studio. Unsurprisingly, the site the dev targeted is based in the same region founders Eduard and Aisen Gotovtsev, which previously nuked their social media presence are based in.
Following altercations with the studio and site, which included altering language, but TDB devs wanted the articles down entirely. Understandably, Yakutia refused to do so and things may get ugly. It is interesting that Fntastic is moving forward to make efforts to clean its name by putting itself in a negative spotlight again, but we digress.
The fact Fntastic thinks suing outlets for defamation years after rug-pulling hyped players with a game that simply didn’t meet expectations is gonna get gamers on its side is insane, considering it’s usually the other way around.
