Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a mere month away, and with both of its 2023 Like a Dragon offerings hitting Game Pass, people expected this next entry to as well, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama confirmed during an interview with Automaton that there aren’t plans on releasing Infinite Wealth to the service, though he does point out that it’s “at the moment.” So, it could easily end up on the service after prowling the stores for a while. He expressed that Game Pass was used for it to offer overseas users its “business card.”
On top of Yokoyama, this is also SEGA’s entry to the $70 game space, so it’s unsurprising that it might be hesitant to skew the numbers at the get-go by making it public that the game will be coming to Game Pass. It’s also the series’ longest entry, giving it all the more reason to be wary of releasing it to the service.
Overall, though, it’s a different perspective than that of Larian Studios, which believes its price is fair for the experience you get from the award-winning game.
“This is connected to what I mentioned earlier, but for Gaiden, I thought of Game Pass as a way of ‘handing overseas users our business card’ – in other words, letting players new to the series enjoy the game and get to know Kiryu. Game Pass proved to be a very good method to invite new users to interact with the series.”
