The main story of the sequel will take players around 40 hours to complete, while completing “a good amount” of the side content will take 60 hours. All of the side content comprises “around 80%” of all the exploration. “Most dedicated” players will be looking at over 100 hours worth of content. However, it is not clear if this means 100% completion of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
In a recent Game Informer interview, Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed several details about 2024’s most anticipated title, including its length. The longer game length should come as no surprise. Rebirth’s scale is more ambitious than its predecessor, featuring several open zones where players can explore new cities and wildlife not previously featured in the original Final Fantasy VII.
In this sense, Square Enix is tweaking the formula after Remake’s streamlined corridor gameplay approach to provide players with more freedom, variety, and worldbuilding. A new cast of characters includes Cait Sith and Vincent Valentine, as well as returning fan-favorite Yuffie.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on February 29. However, this was confirmed by IGN to be a timed exclusive, as Rebirth’s exclusivity window will only last three months. Other versions have not yet been announced.
We here at Smash Jump are very excited about what this second chapter will bring to the remake trilogy and how it builds upon the first outing.
