A Game Science investor has revealed that the studio’s debut AAA-sized project, Black Myth: Wukong, has blasted through another big milestone after smashing through 10 million copies sold in just three days; 18 million copies sold in two weeks.
Hero Games and external investor, Daniel Wu, revealed to Bloomberg (via GamingBolt) that the PS5 and PC game has surpassed that milestone. This runaway success of the game is impressive, especially considering its budget of only $70 million across the span of six years in development.
With the game’s current sales, Wu is confident the game could eventually make it to 30 million copies sold. Frankly, we wouldn’t be surprised, considering the game is responsible for a massive surge in PS5 sales over in China and overall enjoyed worldwide.
This adaptation to the famed Chinese folklore, Journey to the West, has yet to actually release on the Xbox Series X|S. Game Science has supposedly chalked this up to a memory leak issue on the platform, but some still spread the rumor of a PlayStation exclusivity deal.
Smash Jump’s Matt Marston enjoyed his time playing Black Myth: Wukong, giving it an 8/10 saying:
“Black Myth: Wukong is a technical feat that deserves attention. Not only does it deliver on outstanding graphical settings, it also sends players to different locations and environments that all look just as stunning as the last. Combat is the main focus of the game, and it proves to be as responsive as any game I’ve played. Combat feels like a worthy challenge, but sometimes the challenge seems a little too much to handle.”
