Developer Rocksteady Studios is no longer planning weekly updates for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League mere months after launch. It isn’t winding down development yet, but rather hoping to drum up more hype around any updates that do come out.
In the latest update, it was revealed the studio would wind down the weekly developer updates now that Episode 2 — Duality — is out. Now, updates will be shared when the studio has updates to share. It makes sense, as GamingBolt points out, why would you put out a written developer update when nothing big changed?
That said, it does bring some people concerned of the game’s future. We all know that while it’s not horrible, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is not picking up nearly as much steam as Warner Bros. no doubt wants. The multimedia company even admitted that the game has fallen under expectations. This fumble cost Warner $200 million.
With the shift from weekly updates, fans fear this is the beginning of the end for the live service hero game. It’s all too possible that in coming months, Rocksteady may limit some features or even cut the game off entirely, likely without any sort of offline mode patch to keep the game somewhat accessible to those who play it.
