Summer is upon us and for many this is the start of exciting gaming news and releases. June is full of anticipated events, including the Summer Games Fest, Xbox Showcase, and more. We argue that June will also intrigue players with a series of high-profile releases even if this month lacks a PS exclusive title. Without further ado, these are our recommended June games for the PS5 you need to try:
Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game
Let’s see: scary clowns — check; aliens from outer space — check; 1980s campy nostalgia based on cult property — check and check. Killer Klowns from Outer Space is an incredibly peculiar video game take on the cult horror movie with the same name from 1988. The game is an asymmetrical survival horror multiplayer that pits humans and klowns (basically a version of scary clowns updated with alien DNA) against each other.
Early previews of the game sound promising as Killer Klowns plays similar to the likes of Dead by Daylight. On top of that, Killer Klowns is infused with comedy and horror elements that is sure to cause some hilarious mayhem. If it sounds ridiculous it’s because it is. But ridiculous is something the survival multiplayer genre may just be in need of right now. Keep this one on your radar.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape
The Final Shape is the eight major upcoming expansion for Bungie’s Destiny 2. It is not advertised as the final one, but it is absolutely causing excitement in the community. The Final Shape takes place after the conclusion of last year’s Lightfall expansion. The Guardian will pursue the major villain, the Witness, through the heart of the Traveler with the aim of ending the War of Light and Darkness. In typical Bungie fashion, expect the lore to be deep and the FPS combat engaging.
If you are a newcomer or haven’t been up to date with the latest expansions, you can now experience the Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen expansions for free until June 3, the day before The Final Shape releases. PlayStation Plus subscribers can also get the most recent Destiny 2 expansion, Lightfall, free as a part of the May PlayStation Plus Essential games, so move fast!

V Rising
V Rising is an Action RPG with survival mechanics where you play the role of a vampire. Developers Stunlock Studios describe their game as:
“Hunt for blood to regain your strength while hiding from the scorching sun to survive. Rebuild your castle and convert humans into your loyal servants in a quest to raise your Vampire empire. Make allies or enemies online or play solo locally, fend off holy soldiers, and wage war in a world of conflict. Seize your destiny! Defy Dracula! Rule the night!”
V Rising was released on PC on May 8 to a very positive critical reception after being polished in Early Access since 2022. Stunlock Studios have proven that they have a knack for quality and polish, so we expect the PS5 version to be visually stunning and run great.
V Rising launches June 11 on PS5, priced at $39.99. It is now available on PC and streams on GeForce Now.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
The Atlus-developed Shin Megami Tensei V was one of the 2021 Game of the Year contenders for best RPG, so we know we are in for a treat! Originally launched on the Nintendo Switch, Shin Megami Tensei V is now making its way on the PS5 via the enhanced Vengeance edition. Vengeance includes all the DLCs, a stable 60fps framerate, new locations, demons, quality of life improvements, and more. The story follows an ordinary high-school student from Tokyo as he is caught up in a mysterious earthquake and transported to Da’at, an alternative apocalyptic version of Tokyo in which a war wages between angels and demons.
It has been confirmed that the original Shin Megami Tensei V versions will be delisted from the Nintendo eShop on June 13 to make way for Vengeance, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see it there on that specific day. Nonetheless, previously purchased physical and digital versions will remain playable and re-downloadable after this date. Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is a multi-platform release that will be sure to please the most demanding JRPG fans.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
This is the most anticipated release of the month (should we say year, too?). An Elden Ring expansion was one of the most demanded releases of recent times… and now it is finally here! The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion tells the story of Miquella, Malenia’s twin brother. The story will follow in Miquella’s footsteps in the Land of Shadow, just like the base game featured the Sites of Grace.
This is Elden Ring’s only DLC and FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed it will stay that way. Nonetheless, sequels may be possible in the future. Shadow of the Erdtree recently dropped a magnificent trailer to hype up the crowd ahead of release. Judging by the overwhelming public reaction, we say it worked pretty well.
